Discover the fascinating Los Haitises National Park – one of the most important natural reserves in the Dominican Republic. After a catamaran ride across the Bay of Samaná, we reach the park and cruise along the impressive coastline dotted with countless small islands and bird colonies. Numerous seabirds, such as pelicans and frigatebirds, nest here – a paradise for nature lovers and photographers.
During our exploration, we visit several of the park’s most famous caves: San Gabriel, La Arena and La Línea. Each one holds unique rock formations and ancient Taíno wall paintings from the island’s first inhabitants.
A special highlight is the 20–30 minute walk through the dense tropical rainforest to the Cueva del Búho Gris. In this mysterious cave, you’ll experience the magical atmosphere of a millennia-old site – surrounded by the sounds of the forest and the songs of tropical birds.
To finish, a typical Dominican lunch awaits you at Cueva Arena Beach: rice, beans, fish, chicken, salad, and a sweet coconut dessert – served in the midst of pristine nature.
